Understanding Benign Prostatic Hyperplasia (BPH): A Common Condition in Aging Men

As men age, their bodies undergo numerous changes—some expected, some less welcome. One common but often overlooked issue is benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH), a non-cancerous enlargement of the prostate gland that can significantly impact daily life. While BPH is not life-threatening, it can cause frustrating urinary symptoms, making everyday activities, like getting a good night’s sleep, more challenging.[/et_pb_text][et_pb_button button_url=”https://lowcountrymale.com/lab-work-research/#form” button_text=”$100 Off First Consultation” button_alignment=”left” button_alignment_tablet=”center” button_alignment_phone=”center” button_alignment_last_edited=”on|tablet” _builder_version=”4.27.4″ _module_preset=”default” custom_button=”on” button_text_color=”#ffffff” button_bg_color=”#F26522″ button_border_width=”0px” button_font=”Montserrat|700|||||||” custom_margin=”|||20px|false|false” custom_margin_tablet=”|||0px|false|false” custom_margin_phone=”|||0px|false|false” custom_margin_last_edited=”on|desktop” custom_padding=”||||false|false” button_text_size_tablet=”” button_text_size_phone=”18px” button_text_size_last_edited=”on|desktop” locked=”off” global_colors_info=”{}”][/et_pb_button][/et_pb_column][/et_pb_row][/et_pb_section][et_pb_section fb_built=”1″ _builder_version=”4.27.4″ _module_preset=”default” custom_padding=”75px||40px||false|false” locked=”off” global_colors_info=”{}”][et_pb_row column_structure=”1_2,1_2″ make_equal=”on” custom_padding_last_edited=”on|phone” _builder_version=”4.27.4″ _module_preset=”default” width=”90%” max_width=”100%” custom_margin=”||50px||false|false” custom_padding=”0px|50px|0px|50px|true|true” custom_padding_tablet=”0px|50px|0px|50px|true|true” custom_padding_phone=”|25px||25px|true|true” global_colors_info=”{}”][et_pb_column type=”1_2″ _builder_version=”4.27.4″ _module_preset=”default” background_image=”https://lowcountrymale.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/08/Lowcountry-male-fit-guy-in-group-excercise-class.jpeg” custom_padding=”||||false|false” custom_css_main_element=”min-height:300px!important;” border_radii=”on|10px|10px|10px|10px” global_colors_info=”{}” custom_css_main_element_last_edited=”on|desktop” custom_css_main_element_tablet=”min-height:300px!important;||margin-bottom:20px!important;” custom_css_main_element_phone=”min-height:300px!important;||margin-bottom:20px!important;||display:block!important;”][/et_pb_column][et_pb_column type=”1_2″ _builder_version=”4.27.4″ _module_preset=”default” custom_padding=”||||false|false” custom_css_main_element=”display: flex;||align-items: center;” global_colors_info=”{}”][et_pb_text content_tablet=”

What is NAD+, and Why Is It Important?

Think of NAD+ (Nicotinamide Adenine Dinucleotide) as the fuel that keeps your cells running. It’s a vital coenzyme found in every single cell in your body, playing a key role in energy production, DNA repair, and brain function.

The problem? NAD+ levels drop as we age, leading to fatigue, brain fog, slower recovery, and even increased risk for chronic diseases. Studies suggest that by the time you’re 40, your NAD+ levels could be half of what they were in your 20s. This decline contributes to many of the frustrating signs of aging—low energy, slower metabolism, and poor focus.

What is BPH?

The prostate is a small, walnut-shaped gland located below the bladder and around the urethra. It is responsible for producing seminal fluid. Over time, hormonal changes can cause the prostate to enlarge, pressing against the urethra and leading to urinary difficulties. According to the National Institute of Diabetes and Digestive and Kidney Diseases (NIDDK), approximately 50% of men between 51 and 60 years old and up to 90% of men over 80 experience BPH symptoms.
